Sheila Early

Having completed a B.Ed in Queen’s University Belfast in 1979, Sheila Early moved to Dublin and began working in Mater Dei Primary School, Basin Lane in March 1980. She was a class teacher there until 1999 when she became Home School Community Co-Coordinator. She remained in that role until 2010 when Sheila became Deputy Principal. She was Acting Principal from March 2011 to August 2012 and retired from teaching in November 2015.

Sheila has been involved in running three-week Gaeltacht courses for secondary students in Coláiste Árainn Mhóir, County Donegal since 1986. From 1987 to 1992, she worked with Dublin Simon Community on the soup run. In 2006, she gained a BSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy and has been a fully-accredited member of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists since 2009.

Sheila has been privileged to witness the development of Solas Project, which continues to find new and innovative ways to serve the community. The ethos and values of the charity are very much in keeping with her own, and she is honoured to serve on the Solas Project Board.
