We are delighted to announce Amy Carey as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Solas Project.

Amy is currently our Cultivation Manager and comes to this new role with significant experience working and volunteering among disadvantaged communities, including through her extensive practical and leadership experience at Solas Project. In her current role, she has overseen the development and expansion of Solas Project's programmes, working as part of senior management to ensure the continued delivery of the organisation's unique vision, mission and ethos.

Amy writes,

“I have witnessed the development of Solas Project since its inception initially as a volunteer before joining the staff team in 2011. Over the past nine years Solas Project and the young people we serve have been a great source of passion and joy in my life. It is a privilege to be entrusted with this position and to lead Solas Project into its next chapter building on the inspirational and pioneering leadership of those who have gone before me. Eddie, Graham and Salla each invested deeply into Solas Project creating the strong and innovative organisation that it is today.

2020 has been a challenging year for us all but it has highlighted afresh to me the passion, resilience and commitment of our staff team and our incredible army of volunteers and supporters. I am very thankful to be stepping into this role supported by such a talented team and I am excited for all 2021 has to bring for Solas Project”.

After four years leading Solas Project, current CEO Eddie D’Arcy will be retiring at the end of this year, formally handing over to Amy on 1st December 2020.

Alice Dawson-Lyons on behalf of the Solas Project Board of Directors writes,

“Amy has shown an unwavering dedication and passion for working with disadvantaged communities, as well as a particular commitment to the children and young people of Dublin. We want to take this opportunity to heartily congratulate Amy on her successful appointment to the role and we look forward to working with her as she leads on setting the strategic direction for this exciting new chapter for Solas Project.

We also want to sincerely thank outgoing CEO Eddie D'Arcy for his unwavering commitment and tireless efforts in support of Solas Project and most importantly, the children and young people it serves over the last four years. We wish him every blessing and enjoyment as he enters retirement and commend him on a life-long career which contributed so much to so many”.
